Columbus is the most populous city in Ohio and is the 14th most populous city in the United States. Columbus is the capital of Ohio and is the county seat of Franklin County. Columbus has both a humid continental climate and a humid subtropical climate, characterized by hot, muggy summers and cold, dry winters. Going back in history, after Ohio achieved statehood in 1803, the state legislature decided to build a new city in the state’s center. The new city, Columbus, was named in honor of Christopher Columbus and was founded in 1812 on the Scioto River. Columbus was incorporated in 1816 and officially chartered as a city in 1834. In 1831, the population boom led to the creation of two ethnic enclaves on the city’s outskirts; the Irish settled in the north while the Germans settled in the south. By the end of the 19th century, Columbus was known as the “Buggy Capital of the World” because there were two dozen buggy factories located in the city.

With so many things to see and do in the city, major points of interests include the Easton Town Center, the Ohio Statehouse, the Scioto Mile, the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, the Ohio Theater, the Ohio Stadium, the Columbus Museum of Art, and the Nationwide Arena.
