St. Charles is the county seat of St. Charles County and is a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. Going back in history, French Canadian fur trader Louis Blanchette founded the city in 1769; he named the city Les Petites Cotes (The Little Hills). From 1821 to 1826, St. Charles served as the first Missouri capital.
