Where Is Area Code 954?

The 954 area code was put into effect in 1995 for Broward County in Florida. It was created as a split from the 305 area code in order to assist with numbering relief. Unfortunately, the 954 area code was quickly exhausted and needed to be overlaid by the 754 area code in 2002. As a result, residents in Broward County must now dial ten digits even when making local calls. Currently, the 954 area code is only assigned to new numbers issued to public offices and officials.

Fort Lauderdale was discovered by Spanish explorers back in the 16th century. After much conflict, including the Seven Years’ War, this portion of the 954 area code is currently a very modern city. The name “Fort Lauderdale” actually comes from one of these wars when the site of the 954 area code was used as a fort during the Second Seminole War. Presently, the 954 area code is only a fortress to vacationers and is fortunately not involved in any major conflicts.

The Fort Lauderdale area code has an exceptionally pleasant climate. Although it is not located near the equator or inside the tropics, the 954 area code still has a tropical rainforest climate. As a result, Pompano Beach has enticed international tourists to purchase vacation homes along its beaches. In fact, Pompano Beach has one of the biggest real estate markets for vacation homes in the United States.

Not surprisingly, the Pompano Beach area code is a coveted vacation home destination for quite a number of celebrities. Professional football players have essentially taken over the 954 area code. For instance, players for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and even the Oakland Raiders call the 954 area code home. Other notable celebrities in Pompano Beach include Jordan Pundik, who was a vocalist in New Found Glory, as well as Eddie Jones, who played for the Dallas Mavericks.

The 954 area code has several tourist attractions. The most unique tourist attraction in Pompano Beach is undoubtedly Butterfly World. As the biggest butterfly park in the world, Butterfly World is home to thousands of beautiful butterflies. Guests at Butterfly World delight in the large selection of butterflies.
