Huntersville is a town in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina and is located just 12 miles north of Charlotte. Huntersville is known as a lake community because of its proximity to Lake Norman, the largest man-made lake in North Carolina. Going back in history, Huntersville was incorporated in 1873. Originally called Craighead, the name was changed to Huntersville in honor of major landowner Robert Hunter. Huntersville rapidly grew due to the railroads and its fertile land.

Today Huntersville has a population of 46,773 and the racial makeup of the town is 88.42% White, 7.47% African American, 3.88% Hispanic, and 1.50% Asian (2010 Census). The low crime rate makes Huntersville a great town to reside in.

Kannapolis is a city in North Carolina and is located in both Cabarrus County and Rowan County. Kannapolis is a suburb in the Charlotte metropolitan area and is conveniently located to the interstate and to local and national airports. Going back in history, J.W. Cannon purchased 1008 acres in Cabarrus County and Rowan County in 1906. Approximately 80% of the land was used to build a textile mill, Cannon Manufacturing. Cannon Manufacturing began production in 1908 and by 1914, was the world’s largest producer of sheets and towels. After the success of the first textile mill, J.W. Cannon opened multiple textile mills. In 1928, his youngest son consolidated all the textile mills into the Cannon Mills Company. The Cannon Mills Company constructed the majority of Kannapolis’ facilities and amenities for the textile mill employees. Before Kannapolis was incorporated as a city in 1984, all aspects of life were centered on the textile mill operations.
